Appearance: The first thing most people notice when they look at Hidan would be his height and his dark, mid-length hair. His face is most commonly seen hosting a deadpan expression that shows no other emotion other than boredom. Though, he can quickly adopt an apathetic glare, cold enough to freeze most enemies in their tracks. His eyes often appear to be bored or dull, the black orbs stare ahead as thugh showing too much emotion is beneath him. Hidan often wears a lot of black. Black pants and shoes, a black shirt and an ever present black trench coat with a dark yellow inside. His appearance changes slightly when he uses his Kagune and Kakugan. When he activates his Kakugan his eyes become red, with a pure black iris, as most ghouls. His Kagune appears as a flat, dark red tendril. These often have a spear-like tip at the end perfect for puncturing or cutting.

Personality: Hidan is a man of many secrets, as are most ghouls who try to blend in with the humans. He has no problem in feeding on them, though he prefers to hunt only those who he feels, society will not miss. Thieves and murderers are his most common targets, though when he gets hungry he will eat anyone. While he is hunting, he is a cold and calculating killer. Willing to kill any and all who get in his way, though he does make exceptions depending on his hunger level.

When he is in the hunt, he has a tendency to get rather sadistic and as such he will often hunt his prey for long hours, drawing out their death until they practically beg him for it before he actually kills them. He feels that this makes them have time to consider their past actions and on rare occasions, if he senses a real change in them, he will spare their life and hunt another. Though, usually by the time they have time to actually talk to him, they are mostly dead.

While he is not on the hunt however, he appears rather bored. Not much excites him other than being with his friends at Anteiku or eating. He does enjoy a good fight, he finds thrill in the challenge. But, he tries to avoid too many confrontations, especially in districts held by the doves. He has not had a very good relationship with them, so he openly hates them. Also, while he normally avoids fights, he is known to get into them for a few reasons. One reason would be to defend those who he deems friends. Two would be because he is hungry and when he is hungry, he gets cranky. And finally, in order to survive.

He has also written a few best-selling novels under a pen name that tell the tale of ghouls from the perspective of a ghoul. Though no one knows who actually writes them other than his publisher. He has a few friends that he considers close, and though he doesn’t avoid making more, he isn’t always on the best terms with everyone due to his notoriety.  The few friends he has know him as a kind person who only does what he does to protect either himself or those who are in need.

Character History: Hidan was born twenty-four years ago. To many, this wasn’t long ago, and to some it seems like a long time. But to Hidan, it feels like an eternity. How he longed to go back to those simpler days when he was able to play with his mother, or watch his father read and write books. It was always fun back then. Of course we are beginning to get ahead of ourselves. Let’s just start with the beginning.

Hideo, Hidan’s father, was an SSS class One-Eyed Ghoul. This definitely left him at the top of the CCG’s most wanted list. He was known as the ‘Death Reaper’ due to the unique, scythe-like shape of his Rinkaku Kagune. He was a loner, avoiding any close ties with anyone in order to make avoiding the CCG easier. Though he never considered that he would meet Airi, Hidan’s mother. She was also on the list as an SS class Ghoul known officially as the ‘Scarlet Queen’.  She also had a Rinkaku kagune, hers was a deep red color, thus her name. When they met, it was truly love at first sight. Though this wasn’t exactly a good thing, as now they had to lookout for each other in a world out to get them. They eventually found refuge in Anteiku. This allowed them to get married and even for Airi to become pregnant with a son. Though, things weren’t to be so simple. Their son, Hidan was born strong. It was obvious that he was a pure ghoul, though he seemed to exude some potent power right from the start. When he turned five, Hideo began to train him in how to use his Kagune and other methods of self-defense.

Life for Hidan was good, his father was a renown writer and his mother worked as a waitress in Anteiku. Things were really going his way, until it happened. One day, when Hidan was a mere ten years old, the CCG showed up at Anteiku. They said they had evidence that the Ghoul known as ‘Death Reaper’ had been seen in the area. When they entered the shop, they immediately recognized Airi as well and went to attack her. She managed to defend herself and her young son who happened to be nearby at the time. Just when she thought she would be overwhelmed, Hideo arrived and began to hold both men off in order to allow his family time to escape. This bought them an extra few minutes, but even he couldn’t handle a special class and an associate special class dove. So, after he was taken down, the two doves went after his family who had run out the back. Airi managed to hide Hidan in the sewers before the doves caught up, but this wasn’t enough time for him to escape before he witnessed his mother’s murder as well. After the doves left, he began to mourn his parents and vowed to get revenge on the two that killed his parents.

After around two years of being a wanderer, Hidan was approached to join a group known as Aogiri Tree.  This group had a simple goal, destruction of the CCG. Hidan knew that he wanted the same thing, so he joined. While he was a member, he began to grow in power and make quite the name for himself. Becoming one of the top members of the organization, he felt like he had finally found a place to belong. Though, this feeling wouldn’t last as long as he would have liked because his revenge got in the way. After years of searching, nineteen year old Hidan finally had a lead to one of his parents killers. He was warned against pursuing them, as his superiors didn’t think he was ready to take on such a task. But, he wanted revenge and he had waited almost a decade to get it. He had truly trained himself to the bone in order to gain the strength necessary to kill these two individuals. So, the moment had arrived, he saw an elderly man walking down an alleyway carrying a briefcase. He would send a tendril of his kagune to capture the man, but he wasn’t fast enough. The man had already activated his quinque. It was a black scythe-like rinkaku. It was his fathers. Boiling with anger, Hidan began to attack carelessly, his healing factor working overtime to heal the damage he was receiving. Though, eventually the dove got the upper hand and dealt a devastating blow to Hidans torso. This left him crippled and waiting for his healing factor to catch up. Realizing what a grave mistake this attack was, he would use is kagune to cripple one of the mans legs and would then flee until he actually passed out.

He awoke three days later, in a healing ward within Anteiku. They had found him and taken his body off the streets to be nursed back to health. They recognized him and said he could stay for as long as he wanted. He decided to stay until he was able to bring his parents murderers to true justice. So, from then on he was training harder than he had ever trained before. He trained for the next five years until he was one of the strongest members of Anteiku and was able to keep up with almost any other ghoul on the streets. Though, he knew he wasn’t quite ready to bring the justice he so desired, so he kept training and growing in power. He was known by a few names. The Ghouls that had the misfortune of getting on his bad side knew him as the ‘beast of prey’. While in the CCG he is known by ‘Despair’ due to the feeling that any in the CCG who survive a confrontation with him remember feeling while looking into his masked face. Though, this is just how his story is beginning. There is still much left unresolved and these things will need to be addressed. Enter the world of Hidan, the Beast of Prey…..
