Experience, Yen, and Rc Cells

Post by Okami on Wed Nov 09, 2016 1:06 pm

The experience points that you gain for defeating opponents, completing missions, and just being a badass in general can be spent on getting a new rank or rating beyond the one given to you in the beginning.

B Rate/Junior Investigator costs 500 EXP.
A Rate/First-Class Investigator costs 1,000 EXP.
S- Rate/Associate Special Class Investigator costs 2,000 EXP.
S+ Rate/Special Class Investigator costs 4,000 EXP.
SS Rate/V Agent costs 6,000 EXP.
SSS Rate/V's Inner Circle costs 8,000 EXP.

No matter what rank one starts as, every character will begin with 1,000 EXP.

Yen is the standard currency for Japan and Tokyo. This is used to purchase items, weapons, and quinques (if one has the associated skill). Yen is gained upon character creation, completion of missions or bounties, or can be given as a gift.
The amount of Yen you get upon character creation depends on your rating or rank.

C Rate/Civilian - 500 Yen
B Rate/Junior Investigator - 1,000 Yen
A Rate/First-Class Investigator - 2,000 Yen
S- Rate/Associate Special Class Investigator - 3,000 Yen

Rc (Red Child) cells are certain cells that exist only in the story of Tokyo Ghoul. The origin of the name comes from how each individual cell looks like a curled up fetus. They exist in both humans and ghouls. They flow like blood but can become as solid as teeth, and could be called "liquid muscles". Typically, a ghoul stocks Rc cells by eating people. Within the body, the Rc cells are concentrated and stored in a kakuhou. The kagune is formed by Rc cells that have been released from a kakuhou and have pierced through the skin. Rc cells are the nutrients ghouls need to ingest.

The Rc factor is a measure for the amount of Rc cells in the body of a living being. Ghouls have an "Rc factor" ten times higher than humans. The average healthy human has an Rc factor of about 200 to 500, while a ghoul has an Rc factor of about 1000 to 8000. If, for whatever reason, a normal human receives an excessive amount of Rc cells, such as through experiments, they will start to develop ghoul-like characteristics and eventually not be able to consume human food.

For characters on the site, the Rc Factor represents a sort of "power level" amongst ghouls. A ghoul character starts with a base level of 1,000 at C Rate, with the starting level going up by 500 for each additional rank. The most a ghoul character will start with is 2,500 Rc cells. You can get more cells by eating, whether it's humans or ghouls. Whether you devour an NPC or another character, you gain a quarter of their Rc Factor to add to your own. Since humans have an Rc Factor of 200, you will only gain 50 cells for each time you eat. However, you will gain more if you decide to cannibalize, however, this may reduce your standing among other ghouls if they hear about it. Once a ghoul's Rc Factor gets to 5,000 they become a kakuja, and get an additional armor-like kagune that is far more powerful than normal. You must train for 1,000 words to gain access to your kakuja state, but it is unstable and causes temporary insanity. Once you have an Rc Factor of 6,500 you may train for an additional 2,000 words to gain control of this form.

For human characters, Rc cells are dangerous. You begin with an Rc Factor of 200, as stated above, and are able to increase it through various methods, such as Quinx surgery, eating each other OR ghouls, and genetic mutations. Half-humans begin with an Rc Factor of 600, due to their heritage. Once a human, for whatever reason, gets an Rc Factor of over 1,000, one of two thing happens. If they have undergone the process to become a Q or are a half-human, then they will be unable to eat normal food anymore and must follow the diet of a normal ghoul. If the person is just a normal human, then they begin to suffer from Rc cell Over-secretion Disease, or ROD. There is no cure for this disease, and may only be treated with Rc Suppressants that cost 500 Yen for 1 OOC month. The disease causes kagune-like growths similar to tumors or cysts. They start off small and itchy, but begin to grow if untreated and become enormous after 3 consecutive months OOC. Other symptoms include: Nausea, intense pain, memory alteration, degradation of the five senses, regression of nerves into a child-like mental state.
